Unlimited Potential, Service-Based Business Model Inspires New Franchise Owner to Bring Green Home Solutions to Monterey, California

Owning and operating a business is something that’s ingrained in Emil Font’s DNA. For the past 30 years, Font ran his own export management company, where he sold food overseas. But after being in that export business for 30 years, Font decided it was time for a change.

He said, “Honestly, I decided to make a change because I wanted to spend more time at home. I had been in the export business for three decades, and the travel was starting to wear on me. To jumpstart that transition, I started looking into service-based franchises that would allow me to work in my local community. I had been doing research on a bunch of various websites, and that’s when I came across Green Home Solutions.”

Right away, Font realized that Green Home Solutions was a brand worth investigating. While he wasn’t familiar with the emerging indoor air quality industry, he recognized that it’s an increasingly popular service niche that’s filled to the brim with potential. So, he reached out to the corporate team to learn more.

“I don’t think that many people wake up one morning and say, ‘You know what, I would like to be an indoor air quality specialist. I would like to fight mold.’ But when you look at Green Home Solutions’ investment opportunity and see what the brand has to offer, the buy-in is immediately there. It has a relatively low investment up front, and it’s still relatively new. One of the things that stood out to me was that the market wasn’t over-saturated with franchisees or competitors—I knew that I would have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a growing concept that has a national presence for a low buying cost,” Font said.
After recognizing that he had the opportunity to bring Green Home Solutions’ one of a kind business model to the Monterey Bay region of California, he decided to dive deeper into the brand’s opportunity. What stood out was the fact that Green Home Solutions is providing a service that can’t be found anywhere else that’s changing people’s lives, which is why demand for its services is recession resistant. But what inspired Font to sign his franchise agreement was talking to members of Green Home Solutions’ franchise network, which is currently comprised of 165 franchisees.

“The first thing we tell prospective candidates when they’re going through the due diligence process is to talk to as many franchisees as possible. Once they’re able to get an idea of what being in this business is really like, they’re able to see themselves in an owner’s shoes and hit the ground running,” said Glen Snyder, Green Home Solutions’ chief development officer.

Font seconds that necessary step in the due diligence process, and even says that it’s the top piece of advice for other potential franchisees who are looking into Green Home Solutions.

He said, “My advice for any other aspiring entrepreneur or business owner going through this process is the same thing that Glen told me. Reach out to as many people as possible when you’re learning more about Green Home Solutions’ business model. That process was incredibly interesting for me because I found out that people come into this business from all walks of life. I talked to franchise owners who were in construction and others who were kindergarten teachers by trade. It goes to show that so many people gravitate toward this business and then find a way to make it successful.”

Font’s Green Home Solutions business is set to open its doors for business on April 1, just three months after finalizing his franchise deal. Because Green Home Solutions is a service brand, it offers franchisees a quick ramp-up time that includes ongoing support and training from the corporate team and other local owners. The brand’s initial investment is also affordable—franchisees can expect costs to fall between $45,675 and $76,250.

“I think that some franchise operators—especially those behind national brands—tend to be very heavy-handed with their franchisees. I would say that the people and staff at Green Home Solutions are quite the opposite—they have demonstrated quite a bit of flexibility in their approach and in taking on new franchisees. They’re very accommodating, and they’re a great bunch of people to work with,” said Font. “That’s ultimately what sold me on Green Home Solutions. As soon as I started doing my due diligence, I realized that the folks in this business are great. They make you feel like you’re a part of the team, and I’m excited to get started.”
